30th May 2016:
We are going to Gapyeong city today. According to the KTO Website (http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/SI/SI_EN_3_4_10_19.jsp), there are various tourist sites that are worth exploring. We took subway to the Gapyeong station, which is more than an hour away. By the time, we reached Gapyeong, it was already 12pm. There was a Tourist Information Counter, where we checked on the bus stop to take the city tour shuttle bus which cost only 6,000 won and will bring us to Nami Island and Petite France.
We reached the Nami Island Ferry terminal at about 12.30pm. It was so crowded. We quickly bought our ferry tickets, then went to a nearby restaurant to have our lunch before we board the ferry. We had Chuncheon Dakgalbi, which is a popular dish in this area.
The frequency of the ferry is about 10-20 mins interval. We followed the crowd, and boarded the next available one.
This was my 2nd visit to Nami Island (남이섬). The last time i came was more than 10 years ago, and it was freezing cold. This time, the weather was so warm, and the island seemed more commercialised than before. The crowd was a bit overwhelming too, and it was a challenge to take pictures without people crowding around you.
Nevertheless, the weather was good to explore the island, but we decided not to stay long cos we need to move to the next destination.
Before we left the island, we had an ice-cream to cool ourselves 🙂
We went to the same bus stop to board the next bus to Petite France (쁘띠프랑스). And it happened to be another crowded tourist spot 😦
It is actually a very small village to start with, and i think the reason why it’s popular is cos’ it was a filming place for some popular shows, like Running Man and My Love from the Star.
It was a long journey back to Seoul. By the time, we reached our Airbnb, it was almost 8pm. As recommended through email by the owner of the Airbnb, we decided to go to one restaurant nearby, which served delicious kimchi soup and stir-fried spicy pork 🙂
